Restore Elmont Road Park
Restore Elmont Road Park
Why this petition matters
Elmont Road Park has been falling apart for years. The conditions of the park and basketball courts are disrespectful to the community. It's time we hold the Town of Hempstead accountable. Growing up playing football for the Elmont Cardinals was special for the kids in the community. The site where they practiced was Elmont Road Park. But now the field is so bad the Cardinals can't even practice there, which is sad! Years of tradition and pride is being taken away from us. Parks are important for every community, but how can you enjoy a park when the swings are missing, the basketball courts are falling apart, and the field is soggy? The Islanders are moving to Belmont, and part of that deal was restoring Elmont Road Park. The whole idea of the Islanders coming to Belmont, was that it would make the community better. But no one knows the actual time table of when they will start. This has been long overdue, and it's sad we can't use our park during the pandemic, like other communities. If we come together as one, we can hold the Town of Hempstead accountable and get more out of this deal than we think. After all the years of neglect, they owe us! Keep applying the pressure and let's make sure they know this is a priority. The opportunity to have our voices heard starts here. Please sign and share. Love
