Why this petition matters

Started by Mary McPherson

Angelesea Rock was one of my, and many others, best friends. Consciously, or subconsciously, Angel managed to have an incredible affect on each person that she came into contact with. Her positive spirit, incredible sense of humor, and infectious smile lit up each room that she entered. She lived her life as anyone could hope they would; fearlessly and fully.

Unfortunately, on Thursday, January 9, an early morning car crash on Colonial Drive in Orlando left Angelesea P. Rock, 20, dead, and two others injured.

According to a police report, officers were called to the accident scene around 2:40 AM. Police Sgt. David Baker said that a Ford-F150 truck was driving erratically before it slammed into a Volkswagen Jetta. Rock and one other were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other women, both 20, were injured, and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. All four women were riding in the Jetta. The family of Angelesea Rock was not contacted for over 24 hours after the crash that resulted in the death of two UCF students.

Police said a man who was inside the F-150 fled from the vehicle after the crash and was later found hiding by Park Lake. Police detained him for questioning, but did not arrest him.

Nearly five months after the untimely death of Rock, justice has not been served. Angels family remains uninformed on the "investigation" that is being conducted and have been asked not to contact the Orlando Police Department. We need to work together to demand justice for Angelesea Rock. We need to demand the Orlando Police Department to provide updated information to the mourning family. We need to demand the OPD to file charges against the man who carelessly murdered two bright young women. We need justice, their lives matter.
