Why this petition matters

Viera is a golf cart community with golf carts as a transportation option for many people. Currently the Brevard County government is not allowing golf carts to travel over the new Viera Boulevard I-95 interchange. This is a great disadvantage to many teenagers who drive their golf carts to school and are involved in extra-circular activities. This is also a great disadvantage to the golf cart owning families living on the East side of the overpass. People from the East side can also no longer travel to Duran golf course, the Viera Avenues, and other special events happening in West Viera using a golf cart. There is currently no way to travel from one side of the overpass to another. One reason that the government came to the decision to not allow golf carts cross over is the side walks in the middle are not designed for two golf carts to pass by one another. So if two golf carts coming from opposite directions meet each other in the middle section there is no safe way to back out. One possible solution to this problem is that all Westbound golf carts traffic coming from East Viera enter the over pass on the North side and all Eastbound golf cart traffic enter the overpass on the South side. This solution would allow the golf carts to cross each other in the middle, just like the cars.
