Rayshard Brooks was asleep in his car at a Wendys in Atlanta. The police were called on a complaint about him sleeping there and the police gave him a sobriety test. When Mr. Brooks failed, the officers tried to put him into custody. Brooks resisted. The officers tried to tase him and when Mr. Brooks ran from the police he was shot and later died at the hospital. Rayshard Brooks should NOT have been killed for sleeping in his car, failing a sobriety test and resisting while being under the influence. Rayshard Brooks should not have been killed for being UNARMED! This is not just for yet another African American being killed!!! RIP Rayshard Brooks. There need to be stricter protocols in place against using deadly weapons. Police should NOT be able to use a deadly force unless the suspect is a danger to themselves or others!!! That does NOT apply to Rayshard Brooks as he was not armed and his back was turned when he was shot! The police involved need to face consequences and Atlanta PD needs to make strict policies to their police force about using excessive & deadly force!
