Why this petition matters

Started by Jill Fudala

As many of you know, we have been working hard to amend the current Raw Milk laws to allow small raw milk producers to ability to provide more products to its consumers. The current language in the law makes it prohibited to make products like ice cream, however frozen yogurt would be allowed. It seems when the law was originally written by a group of amazing farmers, they simply left out ice cream because no one had a desire to make it.

Well, now we do! There's no logical reason ice cream--and any other product made with raw milk--should be prohibited so long as the product is labeled as containing raw milk. Shouldn't it be the consumer's choice to purchase and consume what they choose to? There are many people who believe raw milk is healthier for them and choose to consume it and feed it to their families. Currently, the amount of raw milk products allowable by law are limited to cream, yogurt, butter, aged cheese and kefir. The new language in the law would allow products like ice cream and other products that use raw milk as an ingredient so long as the product is appropriately labeled and the other criteria of the raw milk law are met. For example, a 20 gallon per day limit. We are not seeking to do away with pasteurization. We are simply looking to remove limitations for those of us that choose to consume raw milk.

If supporting small family farms and your choices as a consumer are important to you, please consider signing this petition! There is a link to the actual house bill below. It is being introduced January 8, 2020.

Thank you for your time and for supporting small family farms!
