I am a retail worker, and like many, are deemed "essential" to our nation's needs. We go to work every day to provide for our families in a new environment of fear. I see it everywhere. In the eyes of our customers, in the eyes of managers, and fellow associates. There are many essential workers forced to work every day, putting not just our lives on the line, but those of our families as well.

We are not provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) of the standard that will actually prevent us catching Covid 19, we are given Class B masks and these are essentially useless, but we are forced to wear them to make our customers feel safer, while further risking our own lives via carbon monoxide inhalation/poisoning (please see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4148326/ It is a false security.

I know I am not alone; there are so many of us risking our lives every day to provide essential services. We are the ones stocking the nation's food and supply chains, the ones treating the sick, the elderly, the dying, we deliver the mail, we serve the public in many ways. We are keeping the nation alive while taking a personal risk EVERY day.

This is a petition for Americans everywhere to reward these "heroes" as we are called, with the hazard pay we not only deserve, but need as we serve the public. Our lives are worth more than the meager wages we have for all the extra work we do, the risks we take and the extra measures we have to go through to keep people safe. We need to be supported in a time when serving the customer means potential death to us and our families.
