Why this petition matters

Started by Mike Hadden

25 year-old Jaci Hermstad was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of ALS on the same day she lost her twin sister to the same form of ALS 8 years earlier!

Now, an experimental drug that has already been manufactured and ready to go, is being withheld to perform more testing. This class of drug (antisense oligonucleotides) has been shown to be very safe in clinical studies and is a form of precision medicine, which means the drug will turn the gene off and not make the bad protein anymore.

While this drug is personalized to her, the process will help others. This drug is believed to be a possible medical breakthrough for ALS!  We are petitioning for her to try it otherwise, she will die waiting for this testing to be performed!
