Why this petition matters

Started by Yashraj Yadav

OPPO Electronics Corp. is an electronics manufacturer based in Guangdong, China. Known for its smartphones, the company also makes MP3 players, portable media players, LCD-TVs, and DVD/Blu-ray players. It was founded in 2004. The company is also a smartphone maker. It has launched a whole range of Android powered smartphones.

OPPO A37f is a good smartphone but OPPO is creating problems for there customers by not releasing kernel sources, without kernel source we can't develop aftermark os for this device and we would not beable to bring latest version of android to this device. There are literally too many yours for Oppo A37f who want custom rom development.

OPPO did not release its Android branch’s Kernel source codes. Since their Kernel is based on Android’s Kernel, which is based on Linux’s Kernel, which is GPLv2, the terms of GPLv2 are carried all the way to OPPO. If they would have used their own Kernel, then they’d have every right to not distribute their source, and they would have no obligation of doing so either. But by modifying and distributing GPL software, they have to comply with the GPL terms, in this case GPLv2. This means OPPO is technically stealing the Android. So guys, sign this petition because we want our rights...
