The Pilot's Hub Restaurant and the Hangar 9 Pilot community at Redhill have been given notice by the Aerodrome to leave. This petition is to illustrate to the Aerodrome just how much both the Pilot's Hub and Hangar 9 means to our local community and the pilot community respectively.

Below is why I personally feel morally obliged to step forward and support The Pilot's Hub and Hangar 9 in such a proactive way. This is not about me or my son anymore, we had 'our time' but instead for all the mothers and fathers, who like myself, might not only see planes taking off when they visit, but their child's imagination and dreams too. For that alone this place must be treasured and cherished.

My son, who is now nineteen, is at university studying Aerospace Engineering. The path to his success can be traced back to the many times we visited The Pilot's Hub as a family for lunch or just a leisurely coffee and slice of cake. We would stuff our faces, he would be transfixed on the planes. His interest and passion just snowballed from there. This was noticed by the proprietor which culminated in my son at thirteen being taken under his wing and mentored. Under my supervision because of his tender age, my son assumed the honoured role of 'Hangar Rat'. Sweeping around the planes and helping manoeuvre them safely out of the hangar. Sometimes he would be offered a flight by a kindly pilot. He did this job in all weather and even though he was freezing cold some days in the depth of winter he was always happy to be there. Moving forward a few years and quite out of the blue, to show their appreciation of his unpaid efforts the pilots clubbed together and gave him some money towards flying lessons. He flew solo at the age of seventeen. The story can go on and on but I'm trying to illustrate to you all that any one of your son's or daughter's could have been my son. The opportunities born out of humble trips to watch planes around good generous people can lead the way to your dreams. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that without The Pilot's Hub or Hangar 9 my son would not be the person he is today. To the owners of the aerodrome.....please reconsider your decision as I/We are heartbroken. Thank you.
