Why this petition matters

1. We demand the introduction of compulsory Animals in Modern History curriculum in school  worldwide, for children from age 12, separately or as part of classic History.

2. We also demand an animal chair, Special Animal Representative or Animal Ambassador in UN General Assembly. based on the original idea by Muhamed Sacirbey, UN Ambassador, from 2014. See more on https://www.huffpost.com/entry/do-animals-need-un-ambass_b_5558663

What a difference it would make.

Dramatic events on Earth show how wrong our behavior towards animals is. Remember the moment when you find out about the things we do to the animals. I’m sure this isn’t taught in schools. In the book “The Case for Animal Rights” published in 1985 Tom Regan writes: 'What's wrong - fundamentally wrong - with the way animals are treated isn't the details that vary from case to case. It's the whole system.'

Animals in history topic are like an "elephant in the room'', something huge what is missing in our education. We, humans, need to understand the enormous contribution of animals in human history because many important history events simply couldn't happen without animals. Teaching of world history without animals is the false principle of our education which dramatically reflects on our environment. Also, The history of what we've done to the Animals should be taught along with our other crimes. With this curriculum. we want to ensure that the world that comes after us is a world in which new generations are conscious and in harmony with animals and nature..

The content of the curriculum 'Animals in Modern History' is completely presented in non-fiction book or textbook. Chapters or lectures are not arranged chronologically, but divided by topics: Animals in Warfare, Meat Industry, Animals in Entertainment, etc. The curriculum covers the history of the last 300 years, from the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. This is a key historical period of human civilization in which animals were turned into ordinary things for the benefit of humans, just as the philosopher René Descartes (1596 -1650) argued that animals were unfeeling machines unable to think, and what was Nicolas Malebranche (1638-1715) later further explained in his quote: “Dogs, cats, and the other animals, have no intelligence, no soul in the sense in which thus the concept is usually understood. They eat without pleasure, cry without pain, grow without knowing this. They have no desires and no knowledge.”

The project is now ready for global implementation. The beautifully illustrated 'Animals in Modern History' book with a complementary documentary, 'Animals: A Parallel History', comprise a course on our relationship with animals in the modern world. As animals do not have the power of speech and their fate is not taught in schools, this movie is a modest attempt to show people the shared history.

With Animals in Modern History curriculum we can make a foundation for irreversible change already in the next generations.
