One of the most important things that successful dentists realise very early on in their careers is just how vital it is to have a symbiotic two-way relationship with our dental laboratories. We should consider our  technicians to be integral members of our team and fundamental to our mutual success.

Sadly, this dynamic is now critically challenged: it is clear that UK Dental Laboratories are financially struggling like never before. Predictable and regular work from many dental practices has now dried up and many labs face ruin. Destruction of the UK Lab Industry will result in work being sent abroad with consequent damage to the economy and an irreversible loss of skills which were traditionally passed from Master Technician to apprentice; skills that once are lost can never be replaced and will be gone forever.

The BAPD would ask you as dentists to support your laboratory. In addition, we would request that the Treasury provide urgent financial support to the lab industry.
