Why this petition matters

Started by skye shendy

TMDB (The Movie Database) has recently updated it's terms and conditions to purposely exclude amateur films from being submitted to the website. Thats not right.

Movies that go through TMDB are what is put on Letterboxd. Letterboxd is the site where people find and discuss films. It's a social media website for film fans and filmmakers. All student filmmakers know that getting your film out there is essential--and Letterboxd was a great way to achieve that--until TMDB decided earlier this month to purposely single out and exclude student films.

I talked to TMDB support and they said: "If followed through TMDb would become an amateur film database with some professional movies here and there. That is not what anyone wants." That's not true at all. Before these new rules this was never a problem. It didn't affect their website. Everything was fine.

Help me tell TMDB that they don't get to decide whats a film and sign this petition. #TMDBhatesfilm #TMDBbringbackSUMMERFRIENDS
