We are Dr Neena Jha, Miss Bethan John & Dr May Jay Ali; doctors for the NHS. We serve patients and families in the UK who are on the bread line or who have hit hard times. They struggle to put food on the table and often go without. Over the last few years, the need to use foodbanks has gone up exponentially and now the COVID pandemic has destabilised their situation further. We are appalled that the government have voted against free school meals for children. Many children rely on these meals as their only meal of the day, or as their only nutritious meals of the week. We believe the government have acted most despicably and they must be brought to account to reverse their decision. Ensuring children never go hungry is not a political decision but a basic human right. We must look out for the well-being and health of every child in the UK. And we are sure that you all feel the same way!
