Stevenage Borough Council plan to build a housing development on a small area of public land. This will involve the demolition of existing houses, a nursery, a scout hut, a sea cadet base and a garage block. Lake view housing will see the removal of a much loved and well-established Sea Cadet base (50+ years in their current location) The sea cadets have no option of relocating within the town due to a lack of funding. The field area has been considered as under used, however dog owners and families have enjoyed this area of land regularly for many years.  The additional housing will create an extra strain on the local Doctors Surgery and the local schools. The traffic in the area is already very congested and this development would only add to that.  Allowing this development will open the floodgates to future developments in the park which will affect the local wildlife and destroy the beauty of our much needed recreational space. Bats have been identified to be living in this area and they are a protected species.
