Why this petition matters

Started by Consumers for Sensible Energy

Instead of wasting valuable funding on new fossil fuel capacity, Massachusetts utilities should focus on fixing gas leaks and on building clean, renewable and zero-emission energy facilities. Massachusetts residents who care about our state’s economy and quality of life should demand that state energy and environmental officials:

  • Embrace the recommendations of  Rolling the Dice, An Assessment of Gas Safety in Massachusetts.
  • Require gas utilities move immediately to fix the thousands of current leaks in our state's gas distribution system.
  • Implement an aggressive plan to transition away from all fossil fuels, including methane gas.
  • Reject all new construction or expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure as both unnecessary and wasteful.
