Why this petition matters

Started by Julie Danner

Thousands of small business owners in Nevada have lost over 60% of their income sources due to event and business closures throughout the state. We need to be able to access federal assistance through the Small Business Association and FEMA, but until our state is declared to be experiencing a disaster, none of us can utilize federal assistance. Steve Sisolak has the sole power to request our state be designated a disaster zone. He must immediately take the steps to help us all get the help we need! Tell Steve Sisolak to declare Nevada a disaster zone right now! Save our local artisans, food trucks, crafters, cottage businesses, and their families today!

Our lives and livelihoods are at risk, including our children and aging parents whom we support. Without local events running to bring income to our households, we all need help now! The Small Business Association is offering low interest loans for small businesses in disaster areas. FEMA is offering food, housing, utilities, childcare, and many other services for businesses and families in disaster areas. Nevada has NOT BEEN DECLARED A DISASTER AREA YET! Even though the federal government has declared a national emergency, it is up to each state and region to request help from these and other agencies for its own community. The time is NOW, before we all get so far behind that we can’t recover. Please sign today, right now, and share as far and wide as you can. Thank you.
