Why this petition matters

Started by Daniel Markham

A company called Wates want to build 250 new houses on Land West Of Winterfield Lane East Malling West Malling Kent. The area is to become Green Belt in the emerging Local Plan, in recognition of the importance of the gap that this field provides.

The proposed site, Know as Forty-Arcres is high quality agricultural land that has been farmed locally for generations.

Forty Acre Fields provides important agricultural separation for historic communities that have suffered development pressures to coalesce on all sides.

The Fields provide one of the last bastions against the merging of the urban areas of Leybourne, Larkfield and East Malling, being the Parish in which the land is located.

If developed it would further erode the space between those communities and the historic approach to West Malling via the Abbey.   Forty Acres Fields is the most important gap left between the total urbanisation of those rural communities east of the A228.

The area is enjoyed by cyclists, dog walkers, commuters and runners. Many are fascinated by the large population of Skylarks that nest there. Their intriguing calls causing many heads to look up into the sky. Of course they'll be gone for ever if this development goes ahead.

WE NEED TO STOP THIS NOW!  ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !
