In light of China's recent aggressive economic policy shifts against Australia following global calls for an independent investigation into COVID-19, continued militarization of the South China Sea & ongoing human right violations against both the Uighur people & citizens of Hong Kong, it is high time that Daniel Andrews and the Victorian Government acknowledges that the Chinese Belt & Road initiative is nothing more than a debt entrapment strategy being used to coerce international political favour by the emerging threat that is China and immediately abandon all current and future plans to finalize any agreement with the CCP.

The consequence of China’s debt trap diplomacy and their invasive and exploitative Belt Road Initiative is already evident overseas, this situation is not up for debate, China has been very transparent with their global goals. If this agreement goes ahead it will have a devastating impact on our country’s economy, culture and quality of life.

Time to stand firm.
