Scratch is a beloved tool used by tech teachers and educators to teach kids and teens how to code which is an important life tool considering how we are in an internet revolution. Did you know that the most popular forms of media and communications are online surpassing radio,television, and newspapers. Also coding has proven to improve other life skills such as science and math. And scratch is the building block to learn to code. Scratch provides a fun learning environment for students and allows them to interact with other coders and lets them share their projects with the world. It teaches them that coding should be cherished and it is something to be proud of. But sadly Shenendehowa School District has banned this beloved item and has taught kids that coding is not something to be proud of. What kind of message is this? These kinds of mixed messages are horrible for these young minds development. Scratch is the building block of coding, and coding is the building block of science.
