Why this petition matters

The FAA MetroPlex program is being implemented in the Miami-Dade area with the goal of switching radar navigations of aircraft to GPS navigation.  This allows the FAA to navigate might more precise routes, put more aircraft in the air - faster and more tightly packed, and adjust altitudes more precisely.

They have proposed new routes over Miami-Dade and the Northbound routes off Easterly take-offs will now run up the middle of Biscayne Bay then scatter out over North Miami.  These new routes are slated to bring hundreds of daily low flying aircraft up Biscayne Corridor and over tens of thousands of outdoor oriented homes while an empty ocean sits a mere three miles east.  This does not seem at all reasonable or logical.

OUR ASK:  We are requesting the FAA not implement this new route and return to the historical routes that they have been running for years, and take the planes out to the ocean before cutting them North.  By taking these routes out over the ocean and then turning them North, the FAA will actually be using routes that are SAFER, with less residential under ascending aircraft, much less noise as the aircraft will return to land at higher altitudes of 12,000-16,000ft (vs 2,000-6,000ft), and more time for exhaust particle disbursement that will help mitigate the environmental impact of aircraft pollution.  This route adjustment will be much less disruptive to Miami-Dade as a whole, and is just common sense.

Please help us let our elected officials know that we do not stand by these new proposed routes by the FAA.
