The military budget sucks up a tremendous amount of resources. Is the world more peaceful? How many tanks, how many guns, will it  take to make Americans feel secure? We have just been defeated not by some unknown foreign terrorist. We have been defeated by not being prepared for a public health crisis. All the money spent on the newest war planes, tanks, missiles, did not help us with this enemy.

I propose 15% of the military budget is cut so we can address pressing issues. About 15 million children in the United States – 21% of all children – live in families with incomes below the federal poverty threshold. We have crumbling roads and crumbling bridges. In a nation such as this we have a huge population of homeless people. We need to have a viable plan set in place for pandemics with ppe, medicine equipment ready before we need it.

The military budget is close to 800 billion dollars
With millions unemployed and countless businesses shut down amidst a global pandemic, government officials from both parties (who haven’t missed a paycheck) are perfectly content to keep feeding the war machine.
