Why this petition matters

Started by Will Henrickson

Truman State University should exempt all students from school work on Tuesday November 3, 2020. November 3 is Election day this year, and this is no ordinary election year. Every issue from Healthcare to Climate Change is on the ballot, the global pandemic is on the ballot, our generation's future is on the ballot. Because of this Truman State ought not make its student body decide between partaking in classes or partaking in civics. Every single student on this campus has a stake in this election, regardless of their political alignment. Therefore, as a concerned student and American citizen I am calling for the exemption of all classwork on November 3, 2020 for the Truman State student body so that we all may cast our votes at the ballot box and take a stand for our future. The real question we should be asking, is how can a liberal arts University ask us to plan for our future, without giving us the means to fight our future. I know this is an issue plenty of us care about, thus I am asking for your signature and your solidarity. Together we can lay the foundation for a better future at the ballot box this November.
