Improve Traffic and Road Safety at Hurstville Forest Road
Improve Traffic and Road Safety at Hurstville Forest Road
Why this petition matters
A man has been charged with manslaughter after a 12-year-old boy died when he was hit by a car and pinned to the ground outside Hurstville Public School at Hurstville. The incident occurred just after 8.30am Friday 6 September.
We request the relevant authorities conduct investigations for the feasibility on installation of a 50-100m barricade around the intersection ( Forest Rd & Lily St. Hurstville) and other technical methods which could improve the traffic and road safety at the particular site and in the surrounding area for the following reasons:
1. Decreasing the risk of pedestrians being squeezed off the foot path.
2. Reducing the likelihood of jaywalking.
3. Decrease the risk of car crashes. Even in the event of an accident, it will significantly reduce the force on impact and minimize damages.
For the purpose of bettering our community and preventing such a tragedy from occurring again, we are requesting for a voluntary petition on this claim.
