Save the Elephants in Africa
Save the Elephants in Africa
Why this petition matters
Elephants are suddenly dying all across Africa.
At least 275 elephants are confirmed dead in Botswana, which has the world’s largest elephant population. According to international news reports, investigators don’t know why.
Dead elephants were found with their tusks, which cancels out poaching.
The elephants are mostly found in Okavango Delta which is home to around 15,000 elephants. As a whole of Botswana, 130,000 elephants.
Reports show that as many as 356 elephants are dead, however according to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, that they’ve only been able to confirm 275 of the deaths.
Botswana’s Department of Wildlife and National Parks are now investigating by sending people in aircraft to “better understand the situation”
Labs in Canada, South Africa, and Zimbabwe are analyzing samples from the dead elephants, but there are no results reported.
In May of 2020, there was a similar incident that happened where 12 elephants died in a two-week period.
While being disoriented EWB noticed that other elephants seemed weak, lethargic and emaciated.
We need to change this, and as soon as possible. Elephants are already endangered because of the human race, we need to find out what is causing these deaths and do whatever we can to fix it!! Save the elephants!!!
