[Note: This online petition was initiated to add supporters to the more than 1,000 neighbors who have already signed to date.  These signatures were collected on paper versions of this petition during events, meetings, and neighborhood tabling.]

The onslaught of out-of-context real estate development occurring in Morningside Heights, Manhattan is damaging our community.

The neighborhoods adjacent to us have already rezoned to limit this type of destructive development and we demand that our neighborhood be protected, as well.

Our Community Board (MCB9) has passed two resolutions in support of rezoning.  Therefore, we request the NYC City Planning Commission begin the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure to secure contextual zoning for Morningside Heights.  

We have already lost too much of our architecture, culture, and history.  Now is the time to act.
