Let’s get the man responsible for Carlos G. Bermeo’s death. Pierre Laferiere drove with a suspended license and was speeding when he hit Carlos at a red light. He was not under the influence and was more than capable of avoiding the incident all together. He faces no serious charges currently.
Carlos G. Bermeo was a 21 year old from Queens, NY. He was killed in his BMW while waiting for the red light after being rear-ended by 45 year old Pierre Laferiere. Pierre was driving with a suspended license and in the newly released footage he was also shown speeding. In addition to this he also did not stop after hitting Carlos’s car but continued to drive away. The car was hit with such force that it spun and caused major head trauma to Carlos. 

Pierre was only charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor violation, and was released with a desk appearance ticket. Pierre was not under the influence during the incident. Our goal is to get Carlos the justice he deserves which would be to have Pierre Laferiere facing charges for vehicle manslaughter. The lawyer that represented Carlos’s family stated that surveillance footage clearly indicates that Pierre should be facing tougher charges. At the bare minimum the New York Police Department should have charged him with negligent homicide charges.

Carlos was well known and loved by his family and friends which is why it is must that we take a stand for him one last time. To all my Thomas A. Edison CTE High School faculty and previous or current students this is our opportunity to protect one of our own. To Carlos’s family you are in our thoughts and prayers and we will not stop until we get justice for Carlos.
