Why this petition matters

Started by Lauren Hardy

Destiny Harrison, a mother, a black business owner, and entrepreneur was shot in the head and killed in her beauty store MadamD Beauty Bar at the young age of 21. The two men who shot her fled the scene and stole over $3,000 worth of hair bundles. Twelve days before Destiny’s murder, two people, a man and woman, came into the store and robbed her of her products. The women physically assaulted Destiny, and they ran out with her merchandise. Destiny reported this to the Baltimore Police Department, and no form of action took place. Destiny has a beautiful two-year-old daughter who now has to live without her mother’s presence and might even have to carry the trauma of seeing her mother murdered given the fact she was there.

Destiny asked for help and protection and she did not receive either. In the criminal complaint, Destiny explained her fears by saying, “I’m sure they picked the lock to the door, and I’m scared for my life and business.” Destiny’s mother is heartbroken, and when reporters asked her what she missed about her daughter, she said, “Everything.” Police have still not made arrests, and the murder happened on December 23rd, 2019, in SouthEast Baltimore. Please sign this petition to bring awareness to Destiny’s death and to give the Baltimore Police Department a wake-up call. As a system set up for protection of the people, they need to take these kinds of cases more seriously. Destiny’s life mattered, and the same goes for other black women who have lost their lives due to petty crimes.
