Samsung creates great range of Android devices. Their flagship devices in Galaxy S and Note series have outstanding hardware, very well designed interfaces, and fantastic cameras. These devices provide full featured functionality for vast majority of average users. 

However, a percentage of users that are looking for that extra bit of functionality, that these devices are fully capable of, Samsung had decided to lock down access to Camera 2 framework API access. Compare to iPhones or Google Pixel devices, that have no such limitation, users of Samsung devices that are looking for Professional level access to device cameras are limited to use only Samsung's built in camera software, that is greatly limited in functionality. Plethora of third-party applications, designed to create professional content, cannot access supported functionality on Samsung devices because of the API lock down. Users are required to forgo better hardware from Samsung and switch to other manufactures, just to be able to create content.

In this age of prevalent video content such limitations are extremely unfortunate to end users and also business impacting to the device manufacturer, since users have to purchase devices created by another company.

Samsung, please unlock API access to Camera 2 framework on the Galaxy S and Note range of devices.
