“The Star Spangled Banner” has a racist, pro slavery history and does not deserve to be heralded as the musical identity of our nation. This is easily changeable, as “The Star Spangled Banner” did not become the official US national anthem until 1931.

We are proposing that we move to an anthem that reflects the fast paced, consumer based, modern American culture. Something that fits within the context of our generation, and something we can take pride in as one of the greatest artistic accomplishments of the last century. We the people propose that we use “claws” by Charli XCX as the new musical identity of our nation. This is a song, free from problematic history, that we can all be proud of.
