What is "TENET"?
"TENET" is writer/director Christopher Nolan’s most ambitious project to date, starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh, produced by Emma Thomas and Nolan himself. Here's the Official Trailer of the movie.

Why IMAX 70mm?
"TENET" is shot using both IMAX Film and 70mm cameras making it one of the movies with the highest picture resolution. So, the best way to experience this film is on a huge IMAX screen that is equipped with an IMAX 15/70mm projection system.
Also, back in 2018, Christopher Nolan visited Mumbai along with Tacita Dean to promote the importance of presentation and preservation of celluloid film format at an event called Reframing The Future Of Film. Well, it seems that the time has come to bring IMAX 70mm releases in India.

What does TENET mean to the Indian fans?
Christopher Nolan’s space-opera Interstellar (2014) was not only the last film to get a release in India in IMAX 70mm but also the last film that was shown in India’s only IMAX 70mm theatre (Prasads IMAX) that screened commercial Hollywood blockbusters.
In a month, there were 75,000 patrons that visited Prasads IMAX just to experience Interstellar (2014) in its gargantuan picture quality offered by the IMAX 70mm projection system.
Till 2015 — the year when Prasads IMAX discontinued using the IMAX technology — thousands of patrons have traveled hundreds of kilometers to Hyderabad from all over India just to witness the colossal beauty of IMAX Film picture quality.
Dunkirk (2017) was never released in India in IMAX 70mm but in March 2018, Christopher Nolan, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, and the IMAX team came forward to give the Indian audience a chance to witness the WW2 epic in IMAX 70mm format by revamping the film projectors and arranging a one-night-only screening at Carnival IMAX, Mumbai. The hype was so real that the tickets were sold out within ten minutes.

On a side note, "TENET" also features several scenes that were shot right in the financial capital of India, Mumbai. Not only that but supposedly India plays a crucial role in the film’s narrative. Hence, the Indian audience deserves an IMAX 70mm release of "TENET".

Proposed solution:
Currently, there are two theatres in India that house IMAX 15/70mm projectors:

  1. Carnival IMAX Screen, Mumbai
    Screen Size — 21.2 x 11.8 meters

The last time the IMAX 15/70mm GT projector was used was during the Dunkirk (2017) one-night-only screening.

There’s one problem though. The screen at Carnival IMAX has an aspect ratio of approximately 1.89:1 which is a standard IMAX aspect ratio for screens equipped with digital projectors.

This problem is solved when we consider our second option.

  2. Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad
    Screen Size — 29.0 x 20.4 meters

Gujarat Science City’s IMAX theatre in Ahmedabad is the only IMAX 15/70mm theatre in India that is currently active. It has a considerably huge screen of size 29.0 x 20.4 meters and the aspect ratio is approximately 1.43:1 which is a perfect option to witness "TENET" on.

Mostly, they have only shown 3D documentaries here. But it would be our pleasure if the authorities come up and allow Warner Bros. India to release Christopher Nolan’s action-epic in the way it is meant to be seen.

On a side note, there are dozens of museums and science centers throughout the world that have screened big Hollywood blockbusters like The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Interstellar (2014). Then what stops Gujarat Science City to do the same?

We hope that you’ll consider our petition and make the release of "TENET" in India possible before TIME RUNS OUT.

Covid-19 update:
Due to the pandemic and rising number of cases in India, the Indian release of TENET is still uncertain. Hence, we request Warner Bros India to release the film when it is relatively safe to do so. Let's hope for an IMAX 70mm one. Stay safe. ✌
