Rescind the Order to Close Indoor Dining at Local Restaurants in Miami-Dade County
Why this petition matters
On July 6th Mayor announced he will be signing an order closing restaurant dining rooms, ballrooms, banquet facilities, party venues, gyms and fitness centers, and short-term rentals.
Since there is no scientific evidence that the increase in Covid-19 cases are due to restaurant operations and since restaurant owners and management have been complying with recommended social distancing and CDC guidelines, we, the Doral Chamber of Commerce CEO, Vice President, Board of Directors and local Doral area restaurant owners ask that the order to close indoor dining be rescinded by Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
We are intrigued that Miami-Dade County Mayor Gimenez after holding a virtual meeting Tuesday with more than a dozen local gym owners, which led to him reconsidering closing fitness centers. Fitness centers (gyms) are much more likely to spread the virus.
So, once again local area restaurants, including those within the City of Doral and Miami-Dade County ask that the order to close indoor dining be immediately rescinded by Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
