Why this petition matters

Started by John Hourston

Thousands of short-beaked common dolphins are being killed by fishing vessels targeting pelagic fish species in EU waters. This barbaric practice is dismissively referred to as 'bycatch' by the fishing industry.

I'm a volunteer at Blue Planet Society so I can help to conserve our amazing marine wildlife - and I'm determined to help save short-beaked common dolphins from these horrific deaths.

I'm calling on the French and Spanish ministers in charge of biodiversity and fisheries management as well as the European Commission to take urgent action to end this cruel and avoidable mass slaughter of these highly intelligent and much-loved animals.

Please sign petition to help save short-beaked common dolphins.
