Why this petition matters

I URGE YOU TO VOTE NO ON THE REZONING AMENDMENT AND DEVELOPER AGREEMENT FOR THE PROPOSED 166 HOMES TIERRA ROBLES SUBURBAN SUBDIVISION. THIS PROJECT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Palo Cedro/Bella Vista wants “smart growth”, not leapfrog development that leads to suburban sprawl. Developer driven growth at the expense of existing residents is unacceptable and we need your vote to protect our interests, well-being and vulnerable infrastructure.

Over time, our county has very limited resources for investment and maintenance for essential infrastructure to support  sprawling, scattered, leapfrog development. It costs the County more to build this way. The current consideration of Tierra Robles has not included a complete cost/benefit analysis and is dismissive of future cumulative impacts related to public services and fiscal impacts if this project is allowed to proceed.

If approved, Tierra Robles sets a slippery slope County precedent for more inconsistent rezoning resulting in higher density development on rural lands that will change our rural character forever.

The developer, Shasta Red LLC and the County, with community input, must now ensure a responsibly funded infrastructure of safe roads and intersections for cars, bikes, and pedestrians; fire evacuation routes that safely and quickly move all people and vehicles; sustainable Bella Vista Water District supplies, particularly in drought years; and enhanced Deputy Sheriff staffing and response times.

The County must reject the project with a “Super-Sized” H.O.A. that is over-tasked, underfunded and lacking in enforcement teeth with no government accountability.

Since 2012, the public’s comments have been essentially dismissed and disregarded leading to a Final Environmental Impact Report that is inadequate in areas important to our community.

PLEASE VOTE NO! OR MAKE IT BETTER! DON’T JUST PUSH THIS PROJECT THROUGH!
