California remains one of the only states with a school mask mandate for students and staff and there’s no sign of this changing for the upcoming 2021/2022 school year. In spite of teachers and staff being vaccinated, in spite of the information on how useless these cloth coverings and paper masks are, in spite of the 99.99% of people that aren’t affected by this virus, in spite of every other place in the county and state that are maskless, in spite of all logic and inconsistencies (ie., kids can eat maskless at school for lunch but not be maskless at desks to learn), in spite of this all and more, our healthy children are being forced to wear masks for 7+ hours a day. Do they complain? No. They don’t. They trust us and YOU! So we must speak up for them and advocate what’s best for their development and wearing masks all day isn’t it.

In Florida, kids have been in school all day without mask requirements for a year. And now 40 other states as well. Peer-reviewed studies shows there’s no benefit to wearing masks. Even Dr. Fauci says the masks we wear aren’t helpful because the virus is so small it goes right through it. Only n95s are beneficial. He also has stated that kids and asymptotics don’t spread the virus.

Kids need fresh air and social cues like smiles, and even frowns for human development. Not seeing mouth movements and facial expressions and so much more is hindering the language and social-emotional development of our children… has anyone even considered what the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community have suffered when they solely rely on mouths and lip reading to communicate with the public and their peers and to be a part of the hearing world? But I digress. Gavin Newsom knows that masks are restricting. When he finally lifted the general mask mandate he tweeted “enjoy the fresh air” to all the lucky people that were now free to breathe without his interference.

Please help by signing and sharing this petition so that our children can breathe the (expensive) filtered and natural air throughout their school day instead of breathing through a wet and contaminated mask all day. And don’t forget, they know masks are pointless or how would they justify lunchtime with peers, maskless? How do we sit down in restaurants and eat safely? How is sitting in their chairs in a classroom to learn without masks anymore risky? Nothing makes sense and our kids are the ones getting the brunt of it all.
