Why this petition matters

The Borough of Oakland is applying for a ‘Congressional Community Project Funding Request’ in the amount of $4,572,864.00 for the Sewer Utility Treatment Plant Decommissioning Project through the State and Tribal Assistance Program of the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection to U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s Office. The Borough of Oakland is seeking petitions of support from our community and project stakeholders to increase the Borough’s chances of receiving this federal funding. If awarded, this funding will be used to decommission and convert the Oakwood Knolls, Chapel Hill, and Skyview-Hibrook Treatment Plants into pump stations, which will transmit the flow to the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority Treatment Plant in Waldwick. In addition, by signing you agree that this project will provide for reliable sanitary sewage disposal for households and businesses in the project area.

By signing this petition, you are in favor of the Borough’s funding request to Congressman Josh Gottheimer. You also agree that this funding request would alleviate a significant burden on the taxpayers of Oakland, and therefore support the Borough’s application.  For more information, visit https://www.oakland-nj.org/public-works/pages/sewer-utility
