Support United Nations report in condemning ill treatment of Palestinian Children
Support United Nations report in condemning ill treatment of Palestinian Children
Why this petition matters
To the Honourable President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled:
The petition of the undersigned shows:
Israeli policy dictates that all Palestinians are tried in military courts as enemy combatants, no matter what they are charged with. The children are traumatised by beatings, torture and interrogations. They are forced to sign confessions which are in Hebrew, a language they cannot read or understand. The Israeli coerce children to sign confessions by threats to harm or kill their families. Some of these children are innocent and others are charged because they have thrown stones at soldiers. In most cases they have no legal representation in the courts. They are not allowed to have parents present while in court or in prison. Their are many photos on the Internet showing soldiers arresting Palestinian children with unnecessary force. During the demonstrations in Gaza many children have been shot, killed, sustained major injuries and maimed.
Your petitioners ask/request that the Senate:
We, the undersigned Australian Citizens, call on the Australian Senate to support the United Nations, United Nation International Children Fund (UNICEF), New B'Tselem Report: Violation of the Rights of Palestinian Minors by Israel’s Military Courts – Israeli Information Centre for Human an Rights in the Occupied Territories and others in their condemnation of the plight of Palestinian Children in Israeli prisons.
