Thundermist Health Center and many federally qualified health centers across the country use eClinicalWorks (eCW) as the vendor for their electronic health record.

Currently, eCW’s product is not culturally inclusive and creates barriers to care for our patients. Specifically:

1. A non-binary gender marker option is missing.

Thundermist Health Center treats more than 1,100 transgender patients every year. We are a nationwide leader in transgender health programs. Despite this eCW only provides binary male/female gender marker options in their system.

2. There is no Spanish language version in the online booking tool.

Spanish-speaking patients are unable to book their appointments using Spanish language forms. In addition, the eCW system does not accommodate “special characters” used in the Spanish language. This creates disconnection, confusion, and obstacles to equitable access to health care services for Spanish-speaking patients.

eCW has recently committed to making these changes by 03.31.21.

Thundermist Health Center u muchos centros de salud calificados federal en todo el país utilizan eClinicalWorks (eCW) como vendador de sus registros de salud electrónicos.

Actualmente, el producto de eCW no es culturalmente inclusivo y creas barreras para el cuidado de nuestros pacientes. Específicamente:

1. Falta una opción marcador de género no binario.

Thundermist Health Center trata a más de 1,100 pacientes transgénero cada año. Somos un líder nacional en programas de salud para personas transgénero. A pesar de esto, eCW solamente tienes opciones binarias de marcadores de género masculine/feminine en su sistema.

2. No hay idioma español en el sistema de reservar en línea.

Los pacientes que solo hablan español no pueden reservar sus citas utilizando formularios en español. Además, el sistema eCW no admite “caracteres especiales” usando el idioma español. Esto crea desconexión, confusión y obstáculos para el acceso equitativo a los servicios de salud para los pacientes que hablan español.

eCW se ha comprometido recientemente a realizer estos cambios antes del 31/03/21.
