We, the undersigned, demand that Canada immediately ends the unilateral, biased, irrational, illogical and inhumane ban on direct flights from India. Considering the following facts, there is no rational explanation of treating ANY country with such blatant discrimination:

• India is the ONLY country in the world that is subject to this ban.
• Although Delta variant of COVID-19 originated in India, it is now the dominant strain in all the hot spots of COVID-19 across the world.
• There is no scientific evidence provided in support of this ban. Minister Omar Alghabra simply keeps repeating "after reviewing public health data" WITHOUT citing which public health data supports the logic of banning flights ONLY from India (and NO OTHER COUNTRY in the world).
• Canada has already removed restrictions for non-essential travel from USA (a bigger hot-spot of COVID-19 than India).
• On 7th September, Canada is scheduled to remove restrictions for non-essential travel from ANY country EXCEPT India.
• There is no sound logic in exposing travelers from India to travel to ANY third country for 14 days and then allowing them to enter Canada.
• In the month of July 2021, more than 500 international flights landed in Canada with COVID-19 positive travelers. Compare this with only 66 flights from India in the month of April 2021 (when the ban was imposed) that had COVID-19 positive travelers.

COVID-19 and its variants are not spreading ONLY from India. The rational, logical and scientific way of controlling the spread is to vaccinate, test, quarantine, and hygiene. The ban on direct flights ONLY from India is completely devoid of rationality and sound scientific logic. Therefore, this ban must be immediately removed.
