Why this petition matters

Recently, KPU music students and faculty learned that the university would not be accepting any intake into the first-year foundation, diploma, or degree program.

After meeting with the chair of the music department, we learned that the Faculty of Arts is required to make cuts from their 2019-2020 course offerings.  Of all twenty-one departments in the Faculty of Arts, the music program will be taking a majority of the cuts, amounting to 40% of the courses currently offered by the department.

These proposed cuts effectively cripple the program and represent a serious blow to the Fraser Valley's musical community.  We are searching for strong voices to advocate for music education, please consider signing this position in support of Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Music Program.
