For many years the independent businesses and traders of Churchgate shopping centre and market area have been under threat of major disruption from proposed redevelopments. Many of these proposals, had they been successful, would have resulted in the wholesale shutting down and moving out of the Churchgate businesses and traders.

The latest push for redevelopment is here as NHDC have set aside a large fund to "explore options" for Churchgate with expressed interest in obtaining the leasehold from the current landlords.

We are asking that any future plans for the Churchgate shopping centre and market place are carried out with full consideration for the businesses and traders in current occupancy and that any works carried out are done so with minimal disruption to these businesses and traders.
