Why this petition matters

Started by Liza Harris

I am a pride member. It is time for people to consider change. She was a pride member that was arrested and tortured to the point that she killed herself. Here is a quote from Cnn Middle Eastern section. The article was called How one gay Egyptian woman stood up to homophobia and paid the ultimate price, and was published by CNN on 7:28 AM ET, Wed June 17, 2020 by Sarah El Sirgany, CNN. This is the statement from Egypt to the United Nations found in the article.

Earlier this year, Egypt told the UN Human Rights Council it has "vowed to safeguard human rights, ensuring equal rights and opportunities to all citizens without discrimination," and it has "thoroughly" investigated all "individual" cases of torture.

If they really care like they say then is now to show it. Stand by us Egypt, look into the case of her torture. Bring this young woman true justice.  She did not deserve this. she is a human like everyone else. Just because I am an American and my gay and trans friends will protected from discrimination, does not mean I am gonna ignore this problem. It is not enough to have rights in one country and not in other countries. It is time to take a stand, make some actual change. If you truly have vowed to safeguard human rights, then stand with us. Stand with the pride community. Stand with the victims of these actions, investigate who subjected Sarah Hegazi to torture in prison. investigate who arrested her. Stand with me and the rest of the pride community. If you stand with the pride community and want injustice to end, sign this petition please.
