SweatBox gym change of use approval
SweatBox gym change of use approval
Why this petition matters
Approving the use of a fitness facility will create more options for people to keep fit and healthy within Dundee, the importance of this especially in the current climate cannot be stressed enough. This will have a major impact on the current 125 members of the gym along with the 2 owners. This is a lot of peoples livelihood at stake. This is more than just a gym, its a positive community. Fitness & togetherness within a group go a long way to helping the mental health of people from all genders and backgrounds across the world not just Dundee. Sweatbox also hold classes for kids promoting the importance of health and wellbeing from an early age and also accommodates for disabled access. Dundee City Council are refusing to approve the use of the facility that Sweatbox Dundee currently occupy. Dundee City Council have already approved Sweatbox plans for a unit 14 metres around the corner BUT claim the newer units are more suited for industrial use, this all being said whilst a number of units in the area lie empty and have done for years. Alongside approving the use of units 200-300 metres opposite for fast food chains and coffee shops. What is so industrial about that? Sweatbox Dundee also offer a sports injury clinic from a qualified professional which is very busy helping others. Further more Sweatbox acts as an educational facility for personal trainers, offering seminars and qualifications to those who need it.
