Why this petition matters

Started by Future Leader

Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, who is expected to become the next CARICOM chairman has displayed prejudice in his recent pronouncement on the ongoing elections process in Guyana. Like many before him Dr. Gonsalves has joined a long list of influential people who continue to make immature and unwarranted statements as to what the expected outcome of the Guyana elections should be. Completely ignoring the fact that the only organ with the authority to pronounce on elections in Guyana, according to Guyana's constitution is the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).

It is noteworthy that the Recount of the March 2nd Elections is a four part process; 1. Recount of Ballots, 2. The Report of the Recount, 3. The Review of the Report by GECOM , 4. The Declaration of the Results. (The recount is currently in the second stage.)

As a people we have an obligation to ourselves to ensure that our leaders are held accountable for the way they approach and address certain situations, especially those of a serious nature as the Elections in Guyana. Leaders like Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, must not be allowed to use their positions to make intimidating and biased pronouncements, specifically at times when tensions are high in a nation.

As a leader you must learn to keep your bias to yourself and act in the interest of all.

HELP US THE GUYANESE PEOPLE TO SEND A MESSAGE TO CARICOM, SPECIFICALLY Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.
