Reinstate Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act
Reinstate Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act
Why this petition matters
This petition is a call to the leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives to pressure the members of Congress to use their power of the Congressional Review Act to reinstate Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. There is a 60-day window for appeals to be made, and action needs to be taken quickly!
(Sec. 1557) Prohibits discrimination by any federal health program or activity on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
By reversing these laws set in place during the Obama-administration, Donald Trump is endangering some of this country's most marginalized and disenfranchised people. This will allow for the discrimination against a wide variety of people (e.g. black transgender people, POC, the LGBTQ+ community, etc.) We need to push all of our representatives and lawmakers to reinstate this ESSENTIAL law, ESPECIALLY DURING A PANDEMIC.
