Why this petition matters

Started by Pranoy Banerjee

We understand Australia and its States have a responsibility to keep its constituents safe. However, as Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents and Visa holders stuck overseas, we're crying out for the same duty of care to be extended to us.

We completely accept the safe quarantine upon arrival, and understand now we are required to pay for our hotel stay. We merely ask you to kindly revisit the passenger cap of 30 per incoming flight, and keep to the 350 daily cap with just ONE inbound flight. This change in inbound flight restrictions will make it more viable to arrange evacuation flights to Sydney, Brisbane and Perth (and Melbourne hopefully). Each day can be allocated to a particular country where Australian citizens are stranded. We appreciate the limits implemented to ease the strain on the quarantine system, however with paid hotel stays perhaps the number of hotels can be increased to accommodate.

We have been trying to find a way back for months and have been forced to depend on other countries' evacuation efforts such as Air India and chartered flights, and this process has been unreliable, expensive and frustrating. We are desperate and need your assistance, please don't turn your backs on your Citizens. We want to come home to our families and contribute to our country.
