Help Knox United Soccer Club secure fair access to better facilities
Why this petition matters
We have created this petition to inform Knox City Council, the ward councillors in the area & the local state & federal MP’s, that the current available social, training & matchday facilities for Knox United Soccer Club at Knox Italian Community Club & Parkridge Reserve do not provide fair & equitable access for the growth of the clubs senior, junior and female football programs.
A growing club of this size should have:
- Fair & equitable access to training & matchday grounds.
- Temporary changerooms & facilities at Parkridge Reserve.
- Surface update & goals at Benedikt Reserve.
- Female friendly changerooms at all facilities.
- A social room to foster our family club culture.
- Additional wet weather cover for spectators.
- All year round access to grounds, not only the winter season.
With 16 teams including State 5 Men’s, Juniors and Mini Roos plus our growing Little Champs program for 5 to 7 year olds - not only should all teams should train & play in facilities that are suitable and safe for all ages but they should do so in the knowledge that the club is rewarded for their benefit to Knox families.
Here are some points to consider regarding the plight of our club:
- We have utilised 12 different facilities (private & council supplied) for our programs since 2006.
- Despite our growth and pleas to council, we are yet to secure a permanent council home ground.
- We currently use a small & overwhelmed private facility at Knox Italian Community Club for which the club maintains at its own cost year after year.
- Over 92% of our members live within Knox City Council boundaries.
- Our female footballers do not currently have changerooms for their training and match days.
- We only have a shed at Parkridge Reserve for storage & no access to canteen facilities.
