Why this petition matters

Started by Ray DeNure

Kawartha Conservation, a conservation authority located in Lindsay, Ontario and headquartered at Ken Reid Conservation Area is building a disc golf course through a forest and meadow with the cutting laneways through the forest already underway. This will impact the habitat of many species from amphibians to species at risk birds such as the threatened Eastern Meadowlark and Bobolink who require meadows and grasslands. The habitat of these birds is supposedly protected under legislation. These birds have already experienced a 90% decline in their populations due to habitat loss. Kawartha Conservation has lost sight of its mandate to conserve Natural Heritage Features.

Why destroy conservation lands for a disc golf course? It makes no sense, especially when there is already a disc golf course nearby.

By signing this petition, you are telling the Kawartha Conservation that you disagree with the change in use of these conservation lands for a disc golf course, that this activity must cease, and the lands restored.
