Why this petition matters

As an avid gamer, I have always loved playing games like Helldivers and supporting the developers through cosmetic microtransactions and battlepass purchases. However, my enthusiasm for the sequel, Helldivers 2, has been dampened by their use of an older kernel-level anti-cheat system known as nProtect. This system is not only outdated but also poses significant security risks to users' devices.

Kernel-level anti-cheats have been a topic of controversy within the gaming community due to their invasive nature. They operate at a deep system level which can potentially expose users' systems to vulnerabilities. In fact, several games that used similar systems faced backlash from players who were concerned about their device safety (source: PC Gamer).

In the case of nProtect specifically, it's an older software that has not kept up with modern security standards. It's known for causing various issues such as performance degradation and compatibility problems.

As fans and supporters of Helldivers 2, we urge Arrowhead Game Studios to reconsider this decision. Preferably by removing nProtect outright! At the very least replacing it with a more secure and less invasive anti-cheat solution.  You will not only alleviate our concerns but also attract more players who value both fun gameplay and device safety.

We believe in your commitment to providing us with a safe gaming environment without compromising on enjoyment or performance. Make this change - it will result in increased game purchases and continued support through further purchases from gamers like myself.

Please sign this petition if you agree that our device safety should never be compromised for game security measures!
