"This is one hell of a present for a 30th anniversary"

In 2021, WarnerMedia and Discovery merged into one company, and what seemed like just another big corporate buyout is now having disastrous effects on their respective industries. Especially in the animation industry.

Recently, it was announced that over a dozen shows were "leaving" (more like "purged") from the HBOMax streaming service. Such as, OK KO Let's Be Heroes, Infinity Train, Summer Camp Island, Mao Mao, and many more. Now when you search up the names of these shows on the platform, all you'll get is a blank page. To make matters worse, the official Cartoon Network YouTube channel has removed most, if not all, of the clips of these shows from their channel. As if they were trying to wipe these shows from existence.

It has become known that NONE of the creators for these shows have been informed that this was happening to their creations. Not a single one. Now there are whispers of Cartoon Network disappearing entirely.

This is unacceptable. We cannot let Warner Bros Discovery and David Zaslav completely screw over the livelihoods of creators and animators. We cannot let these shows get the shaft just for a cheap tax write-off.

For years the medium of animation has been treated as lesser by the entertainment industry, even when it was one of the few things keeping the industry afloat during the pandemic. What Warner Bros Discovery is doing to their series and networks is only an indicator of just that. Animation is treated as a strictly "for-kids" medium, being disregarded as something not worth anyone's time.

But no more.

Animators are sick and tired of being mistreated like this, they are sick and tired of their medium being looked down upon, they are sick and tired of working so hard for years on a project, only for that project to either be canceled prematurely or simply purged from all platforms for no reason. It's time to stop this unfair treatment, and we're starting with Warner Bros Discovery. 

Please sign the petition to end WBD's purging of these shows, share the petition to boost its message and to get more attention to the cause, and most importantly, please talk about it on social media.
