February 26, 2024 UPDATE PART II: VICTORY!!!!! The Save Aviators Committee thanks the community for its tireless and inspiring efforts to support Aviators, the County of Sacramento, and the Department of Airport officials in its decision to discontinue the pursuit of RFPs and to work with the current operator to renew the lease and preserve this community treasure. The outcome validates everyone's strong belief that Sacramento is a great place to live and work with elected leaders dedicated to serving their community.

February 26, 2024 UPDATE:
Thank you to those of you who have signed postcards of support for our "Save Aviators" campaign. If you have not signed a postcard, please click this link to authorize us to complete a postcard on your behalf. The postcard verbiage is included in the link. Since we started the postcard campaign, over 400 postcards have been sent to Supervisor Kennedy. 
Also, we are requesting an in-person meeting with Supervisor Kennedy to discuss various issues related to Aviators and its future. January, 2024 UPDATE*** At the close of 2023 a small group of regional organizers have joined forces to keep the momentum going to save Aviators. This link will take you to the form to receive updates on the Sacramento community's effort to save Aviators Restaurant from being replaced by the Sacramento County Department of Airports.  The two most helpful things you can do right now is sign the petition and sign-up for more updates. 

We want to thank everyone who has signed and shared the petition so far and taken the now closed county survey! We've surpassed 4,000 signatories thanks to all of you!

Aviators restaurant is a jewel in the community. A perfectly preserved gem located within in the Sacramento Executive Airport featuring lovingly cared for interiors that date to the 70s with an array of model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, wood shingled curved booths with diamond tuck upholstery, all with a view of planes landing and taking off on the Sac Executive landing strip. The food is affordable and well prepared and the service is excellent. This is by far one of the best and most unique places to get breakfast in Sacramento. 

Chick who has held the lease on this location for almost 25 years was recently informed that his lease would not be renewed in the interest of attracting an "upscale" vendor to take his place. Any restauranteur will tell you that surviving the last 3.5yrs in the food service industry has been brutal. Learning your lease is ending so that the landlord can pursue an unknown operator after you've persevered through a global pandemic and continued to serve comfort food to the Sacramento community is unacceptable. 

Aviators is consistently packed and is a much loved community institution. We ask that the Airport Authority renew Chick's lease so that the Sacramento region can continue to enjoy this very special restaurant.

In the meantime we ask that you take the airport's survey to let them know what you think of these plans. You can also write to your county supervisor and council person to let them know how you feel about these changes and that you want Chick and his family to stay.
